Virmax wins SCAA Coffee of the Year Award!!
During the SCAA Conference and Exhibition in Atlanta, GA one of Virmax coffees won the Coffee of the Year award. 135 coffees from all over the world participated in this competition. After an initial selection sixty coffees made it to the final cupping that was held during the event. Virmax had an incredible four coffees in this select group.
The first round took place on Friday April 17th and Saturday April 18th with six sessions, featuring coffees from origins as varied as Colombia, Ethiopia, Hawaii, Indonesia, Central America and Australia. The top two coffees of each session were selected for the final round that was held on Sunday April 19th. Virmax had the top four in its session (featuring only coffees from Colombia) and as such, two of our coffees were selected for a spot among the top twelve.
The award ceremony was held at 2 pm on Sunday April 19th and it was then that we learned that a coffee from Los Naranjos, San Agustin, Huila had won the Coffee of the Year award.
